How to connect ps3 to samsung led tv?

I’ve tried connecting to the tv jacks in the side of the with the normal ps3 cable and have gotten no result. What am I doing wrong? I don’t know the model on the tv but if it’s absolutely necessary to answering this question I’ll try to find out. Also am trying not to use any other cables for the hd or picture quality, that is not my main concern.
I’ve never used a hdmi chord on the ps3
