i dont know… … i dont know… camera’s recording is not as good as eyes itself, so, i’ll need to see an OLED in front of me to decide, but one thing i just cant understand is: i once read that DLP is micro-reflected (filtered) display, and it was the very best image we could get nowadays… i am confused. LeD is great, really better than lcd, already watched a movie in it, and it was awesome, better than on a LCD…
@BigCarKilla I … @BigCarKilla I don’t believe it’s blowing out highlights in any way what so ever, it’s the poor video camera recording it that is the problem. It’s handling the bright image that way, the best it can.
@Deanzsyclone … @Deanzsyclone Cheers, i am well aware the differences between the technologies, but its good to have it explained for others
And i also agree that brightness IS a big part of OLED, but blowing out highlights by having it too bright just gives the screen poor dynamic range. Id love to see the contrast difference with the panels side-by-side at the same brightness, just to see how much more dynamic range you can see in the OLED, as well as the extra detail the OLED should have over the LCD.
@BigCarKilla That … @BigCarKilla That is one of the huge advantages to OLED, it is brighter, it’s not the camera. Unlike tft it will dim when it does a dark scene. Its the function of the cheating dynamic trick lcd does to atempt to look like darker darks. OLED does not have to do this. So what is black is deep black, and what is bright in the same scene stays bright, no dimming. But 15″ is epic fail. To small for tv, to small for computer monitor. SAD. Should of been 26″
Also, the video … Also, the video camera is metering the light from the OLED as it is brighter. Turn down the brightness of the OLED so it is the same as the TFT and then record the comparrison once again so it is fair please!
Erik, thats a crap … Erik, thats a crap comparrison. the OLED image is waaaay over exposed (you cant see all of the dots on the Apple logo, but you can on the TFT), and all the colours are over saturated. Is the OLED in home/normal mode? or is it in Dynamic? If it is in Dynamic, then it isnt doing the OLED any advantages in that mode. Please show what it looks like in home/normal mode.
In most of the images you show, the TFT colours and contrast look more accurate and natural.
Yeah I’m watching … Yeah I’m watching this on a calibrated CRT and it’s clear that the OLED is oversaturated. Believe me I’m no fan of LCD. Never owned one and hopefully never will. The OLED is just way off in this pic.
It’s a worry that … It’s a worry that natural colours accurately recreated are now viewed as ‘oversaturated’. Years of having a blue rinse over everything (lcd) creating a weird muted stencil effect has sort of warped perception, i suspect.
@Rico1982PL Oh no … @Rico1982PL Oh no the LCD and the OLED does have the standard colour adjustment. In the article i wrote about the LCD Displays. One of the LCD is a SyncMaster 2243Bw from Samsung with LED backlight.
Colors are … Colors are oversaturated – not natural. You can get the same colors on the LCD when set up saturations. And why do you compare with TN screen the worst posible LCD screen. What screen settings did you set up on your LCD?
