2 Sony XBR10 Review by Jordan KDL 46XBR10I recently bought the SONY KDL-46XBR10. The XBR line is the highest quality of the SONY flat panel televisions. They began at XBR1 and are up to XBR10. Model 10 is the first TV to use LED technology which is a subset of the LCD screen technology which allows edge-lighting so that the screen can become a fraction of the thickness as compared to the previous generation LCD’s. The super flat screen can be hung on the wall like a photo due to it’s incredibly thin profile (depth or thickness). Less than 1 inch thick!!!

    You would’ve much been better off getting a 46-inch XBR8. They’re about half the price now, and are far superior to the XBR10 tvs. They’re not thin, but who cares.

    Edge lit LED sucks …
    Edge lit LED sucks when compared to local dimming backlit LED LCD TVs.

    Sony’s XBR8 produces the best picture among all the Sony LCD TVs made yet.

    XBR9 and XBR10, while they have the higher XBR number, actually has much worse picture quality than the XBR8.

    but of course, thanks to marketing, consumers automatically think the higher the number, well the better the TV.

    Have to admit, Sony does a great job of marketing.

    Forgot to mention the Samsung 8500 was a close 2nd for me but not having the wireless was huge & also, Samsung cannot play nice with Netflix which can stream unlimited videos to my TV without me having to pay anything in addition to my $8.99/month. It also just comes down to personal preference. I have been using SONY for a long time since they quality and longevity of their products has always been superior IMHO. I am sure that Samsung makes a great product too, but SONY is my main squeeze!

    Samsung is always attacking SONY. It is sort of like how you always see Pepsi commercials attacking coke and Apple attacking PC and Mets fans always turning red when the yankees win. Samsung revenue = 170Billion not bad but simply a different order of magnitude than SONY 8 Trillion a year. Go fish!

    Thanks for the subjective input…actually the wireless signal is a true 1080p and is indistinguishable from a wired connection. The PC Richards where I purchased had a wired a wireless connection side by side and they challenged people to guess which was which. This was with a blue ray version of Wall-E streaming, so when you say “everyone knows that wired is way better than wireless”, check your facts first.

    the xbr8 had leds …
    the xbr8 had leds too…they had triluminous leds and local dimming which are far superior in led technology…thats why all the samsung model are edge lit except for their cream of the crop 8500 series which is the best led tv on the market…and everyone knows a wired connection is way better than wireless…sure its nice to have wireless but i would choose picture quality over the wireless
