Should I switch from a regular LCD monitor to a LED LCD monitor?

I currently have a 28" 1920×1200 monitor and want to get a screen that has a tv tuner so it can double as a tv, also my current monitor has trouble with creating good black while watching movies or playing games. So i found a tv/monitor at walmart and it is only 22" but it has a resolution of 1920×1080 and its an LED backlit.
Basically i was wondering if the loss in the size of the monitor is really going to be that big of a deal to anyone else.
