long term implications of drinking 6+ beers a night plus 10+ cigerettes a night…?

what are the likely long term affects of drinking over 6 pints of beer every evening, and around 10-15 cigerettes with them ? i have a friend who seems to be going down this route and im kind of worried – hes gone from a slender youthful frame into a somewhat ‘chubbish withdrawn lazy’ frame, hes okay i guess but he himself suggests his health is no where near as what it use to be in his late teens early 20s. I dont drink or smoke, well maybe once in a blue moon, but hes had a few personal problems which i believe have led him to find sanctuary in dealing with anxiety and woe thru evening indulgences like these. Hes 28 now, but i intend to get him back to his youthful self again because he was a very athletic, outdoor orientated boy full of energy and drive, now he just seems to kick back infront of the tv and mellow out over a few too many beers each evening. also its affecting his self confidence because hes losing his shape, i.e hes getting fatter in places etc.

No offense, but it’s his life and his decision. Talk to him, that is really all you can do. It’s better than him going and doing something dumber like killing himself.
