Samsung UA46D6400 Flicker – Upper Left

The upper left corner of my 2 days old LED edge-lit LCD TV from Samsung appears to be having some issues! The problem first noted on the same day after purchase, but I thought my connection cables were causing it. After thorough testing, I found out that the TV is causing the problem. I unplugged everything except for the TV power cord, and ran the picture test, the upper-left box corner backlight appears to flicker a lot. The flickering disappears sometimes. In other words, if I watch an hour long movie, at least 30 minutes would show such flickering. I tried turning down all smart settings such as dynamic contrast, motion bla bla, and other motion stuff… also turned down filters, and turned off eco sensors, and disabled game mode. I disabled all additional TV features, and the flicker is still there. Fix? Return? Exchange with different brand?

    @qreqorious I haven’t done too much gaming on this set, but my song tried it out and he had no issues. He also said the picture was amazing for gaming.

    hi i was looking into this set and was wondering if u noticed any Gaming lag with this tv?

    @leem6453 But… you shouldn’t be able to see any reflection in a matte screen. All you should see is an indistinct smudge. I can even read the letters on your t-shirt in the reflection.

    I’m sure it’s better than the super-glossy screens, but it still doesn’t quite match my definition of “matte”. I guess I’ll have to wait until 2042 until manufacturers finally make truly matte screens again. (they’ll probably pass it off as an amazing new feature)

    @mrAmiga500 Yes it does in fact have a matte screen. The reflection is from the light above.

    I thought it was supposed to have a matte screen. I see a lot of reflections in the screen.

    @ShadysDaycare Yes there is a slight 3D effect on games and movies, some more than others depending on the game/movie. Transformers: Dark of the Moon actually looks pretty good in 3D.

    I was wondering if you tried the 3D effect on any games from the PS3 or XBOX 360? Also, have you tried the 2D to 3D conversion on a non 3D Blu-Ray movie? Was wondering how much of a difference is between the 2.

    @nakedczech Honestly, I don’t notice any resolution drop whatsoever…especially with blu-rays. I paid only $950 for it and it’s worth every penny. My family talks about the stunning picture almost daily.

    It looks f.cking great. Is it worth a price? Can you see that it´s not a full HD 3D picture? I want this set so much.
