New Samsung DLPs seem to have trouble with 1080p input. This is a Xbox 360 connected by component, set to 1080p, showing black screens and some tearing during Game startup. (RESOLVED–use HDMI or VGA instead or upgrade TV firmware)

ok i’m sorry for … ok i’m sorry for the caps, but i was getting frustrated. It seems i did jump the gun. In all my experience with video equipment i had assumed that 1080p was only by hdmi. Turns out if the display can recognize it over comp it will display it. BUT AACS doesn’t allow it with VIDEO. So if a video plays back the xbox will switch to 1080i/60 hz which it does at 45sec and a couple more times. The reason you can’t play back video is because you get exact pixal information at 1080p/24hz.60hz cheat
COMPONENT CAN ONLY … COMPONENT CAN ONLY CARRY 1080i. THERE ISN’T ENOUGH BANDWIDTH FOR A PROGRESSIVE PICTURE THAT SIZE. COMPONENT IS A ANALOG SIGNAL. TRY 720P IF YOU’RE USING COMPONENT CABLES. HDMI OR DVI ARE ONLY CABLE THAT CAN CARRY 1080P. DON’T TRUST WIKIPEDIA. VGA IS LIKE COMPONENT BUT CAN HANDLE THE FRAME RATE FOR A PROGRESSIVE PICTURE.
