1. I've read plenty of comments from people at shows like CES 2010, and the 'converts' 2D to 3D seems to be OK, but it's not perfect. It's exponentially more complex to simulate 3D from 2D, than to upconvert standard def to simulated HD, bottom line, don't expect to be amazed. Also, I'm sure the lag will be a killer so gaming with simulated 3D might be out of the question since 120 and 240Hz LCD TVs already suffer lag issues, some models worse than others.

2. Both are LCD, so from what I've read so far, neither will blow the other away. They both use shutter glasses, both are LCD, both are working from the same standard, both have the same refresh rate. Common sense tells me it's going to be a wash.

3. All 3D TVs will be compatible with any 3D blu ray player. The blu ray/HDMI 1.4 spec keeps everyone on the same page.

4. Don't know about the demos. but google Panasonic 3D their TVs will hit first (this week I think) the big press/roll out will be at the flagship store in NY, NY and then the rest of the best buy stores.

5. Glasses from Vizio, panasonic, Samsung, Sony have prices in the 99-129 dollar range per set but that info was announced at CES 2010, it was early info so that could change. Every maker will include at least one pair, of course rumors are floating that one company might choose to include two sets, but who knows about that one.

6. I have no idea about the base
References :
1080P is the highest resolution available for TVs now.Contrast ratio will give you a sharp picture e.g. 20,000 :1 or 50,000 :1 the higher the number for this the brighter the colors will be and the darks will be great instead of looking milky gray color. Now the new LED TVs the contrast ratio on some are in the millions 1,000,000 :1 a few are higher and the picture is just awesome, they have traits of LCD in not having to worry about burn in,and they have Plasma traits with the contrast ratio being high so they have the best of both worlds I would say.But the new LED TVs cost a pretty penny,so I would say some new Plasma are worth looking at but those require some care in keeping the picture looking great, they have a feature that gets rid of picture retention(burn in) that should be used regularly to keep picture retention down. For LCD you will be fine in the 20,000 :1 or higher for the contrast ratio, also make sure the response time is 8 milliseconds or less so you won't get a spacey effect on fast action movies.
References :
He has nicotine withdrawal---He should see a physician and get some nicotine gum so that there is some level of nicotine in him to make it easier. But, the lack of nicotine shouldnt make him become verbally abusive---that part is part of his true character.
References :
I tried giving up smoking, failed. It did produce similar kind of withdrawal symptoms on me. I did shout on my wife, and for no reason. Nicotine withdrawal makes you irritable.

One of the ways to keep him calm is to keep him munching, some snacks that he really likes. Let him watch his favourite channel on TV. Believe it or not, but sex helps.

He will put on some weight but the advantages of not smoking are far higher.

Would suggest you bear with him for a couple of weeks. Even the psycological addition goes off, in most cases in 21 days.

All the best.
References :
I don't know how long the symptoms last but it is probably withdrawal. If he doesn't want help you've got to stay out of his way. Either walk away when he tries to fight with you or leave until things get better. Good luck and when everything is said and done he will be a healthier and happier person.
References :
People who are trying to quit smoking are VERY irritable. You have to understand that he is having a hard time quitting and it can take a long time and a lot of relaspses. Just keep doing what you're doing: support him and stay positive. But don't let his quitting and attitude change bring you down. It is important for him that you stay happy too. Here is just one good website out of many : http://gosmokefree.nhs.uk/
References :
Was with a smoker for two years who quit
