Samsung LED UE32B7020 TV any good? and any good for gaming?
I know they are not actually LED TVs, that they are in fact LCD’s with LED edge lighting, I have heard several bad reviews about the TV complaining about backlight bleeding and clouding, but not any comments on how well it performs with games or input lag? for games like guitar hero, and just generally whether its worth the buy. I have only seen reviews on the 40" and above models, but not for the 32" models, so can anyone enlighten me on all the issues above?
Bleeding and clouding, that’s all they complain about.
They THINK that all new technology must be Magically PERFECT, yet they forget about the LIMITATIONS of the older technology…and the newer stuff.
Get yourself a Panasonic PLASMA, and just avoid hanging your weapons out for all to see.
Or get a SONY Triluminos if you have got to have LED backlighting.
Reviews: Samsung 55 ” LED HDTV
Before I really start with this intro, let me get one thing off my back. Due to variances in identical panels we have found significant differences when it comes to comparing two HDTVs with the exact same product number. That is why this review will be based on my personal viewing experience of this Samsung TV over the course of the last 40 days. When push comes to shove, Im like the 90% of you who will be reading this review; I dont know all the technical terms for the prevailing technology behind this product and its settings, nor do I really care about them. What I do care about is that my hard-earned money was well spent on a product that will give me the best picture quality possible with a minimum of hassle. As such, dont expect any technical mumbo jumbo in this review unless it is preceded with a darn good explanation and be ready for a lot of subjectivity.
Up for review today we have one of the latest and greatest HDTVs from Samsung which also sports an LED-based LCD panel: the UN55B7100. LED backlights are a relatively new feature on consumer-grade televisions but have begun showing up in greater numbers over the past few months. Basically, the use of LEDs allows manufacturers to replace the power hogging fluorescent lights in standard LCDs with a more efficient alternative. LEDs are also supposed to deliver a much wider dynamic contrast range, produce truer colors and are also more environmentally friendly since they use fewer hazardous chemicals than their fluorescent brethren.
Upon first glance the benefits LED LCD TVs bring to the table look perfectly suited for the discerning consumer but they also have their pitfalls. First of all, there are two different types of LED TVs currently on the market: edge-lit and local dimming (also called an RGB Dynamic LED) and each have their pros and cons. For the sake of clarity, the Samsung UN55B7100 uses the edge-lit method which results in an ultra thin profile and is supposed to deliver a uniform color across the entire screen. Conversely, edge-lit displays usually loose out to local dimming units when it comes to things like contrast and black rendering.
What really matters to most consumers is money and this is what sets the better LED LCD TVs apart from their traditional counterparts. For example, the TV we are reviewing here goes for around $3800 here in Canada which is expensive even when compared to even the high-end LCDs like the Sony XBR9 and Samsung B750 series. Early adopters however are more than happy to pay a price premium for the latest and greatest.
Even though it isnt cheap by any stretch of the imagination, the UN55B71000 packs a ton of features into its slip form. Everything one would expect from a high-end set -from on board internet to a 120Hz refresh rate to a cleverly designed remote- is included. That being said, what we want to know is if it warrants its sky-high price tag.

What (90’s?) movie is this?
This is a movie I saw on TV about 10 or so years ago.
The movie is about a physical place where people go when they die, and people work there and review your life and if you led a meaningful life, you move on and if not, your memory is erased and you return to earth to retry.
While there, the main character meets his love interest, who eventually is granted to move on, whereas the main character is ordered to be sent back for leading an uneventful life where he never took chances, etc.
One part in the movie, the two sit and watch things of their past lives, where the girl discovers she was Joan of Arc in a past life and asks the guy what he was, he responds "Dinner." because he was a native in a jungle being chased by a boar.
Such a great movie. The answer is Defending your Life. Rip Torn was great. It’s on instant Netflix.

Asian police arrest 5,000 over World Cup betting
LYON, France (AFP) – – Police in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand arrested more than 5,000 people in a coordinated swoop against illegal football betting during the World Cup, Interpol said Friday.
The international police agency, which helped coordinate the month-long operation, said officers had raided more than 800 illegal gambling dens that had handled more than 155 million dollars (119 million euros) in bets.
"The results we have seen are impressive," said Interpol executive director for police services Jean-Michel Louboutin, in a statement released by the agency’s headquarters in Lyon, central France.
"As well as having clear connections to organised crime, illegal soccer gambling is also linked with corruption, money laundering and prostitution," he said, declaring a blow had been struck against underworld gangs.
The operation ran between June 11 and July 11, during a time when hundreds of millions of fans around the globe were glued to their television screens, following the action from the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Many supporters were also tempted to gamble on the results, sometimes legally and sometimes with unlicensed and often crooked bookmakers.
In the operation, police seized 10 million dollars in cash along with other alleged criminal assets such as cars, bank cards, computers and mobile phones, Louboutin said in his statement.
"The information gathered will now be reviewed and analysed to determine the potential involvement of other individuals or gangs across the region and beyond," he warned.
"The experience and expertise developed in each of these types of operations provides an even stronger base from which police can work," he said, praising the close cooperation between the Asian police forces.
The World Cup operation was dubbed SOGA III, following two previous but smaller series of raids.
In all, these operations have led to nearly 7,000 arrests, the seizure of more than 26 million dollars in cash and the closure of illegal gambling dens which handled more than two billion dollars’ worth of bets, Interpol said.
Friday’s announcement came a week after Hong Kong, one of the Chinese territories which took part in the SOGA III operation, announced that it had smashed a huge illegal football gambling syndicate.
Officers arrested 93 people from Hong Kong and the mainland in a joint operation, broadcaster RTHK said. A large amount of betting slips were seized, including seven billion yuan (1.03 billion dollars) from the mainland.
Police said the syndicate mainly received online and telephone bets through more than 400 bank accounts, the largest number of accounts involved in a local illegal soccer betting case, according to Cable TV.
But some say illegal bookmakers offer better odds and easier credit terms, although failure to repay can lead to violent reprisals.
Legal attitudes to sports betting vary wildly around the world.
In Britain, a large and generally well regulated betting industry did record business during the World Cup, and in neighbouring France the law was loosened to allow Internet betting for the first time.
In parts of Asia, however, the practice remains illegal, despite the massive underground industry revealed by the latest police raids.
In Malaysia, for example, sports betting was only made legal last month — angering conservative Islamists — but the licences were not ready in time for the World Cup and a police task force was assigned to lead a crackdown.
ILLEGAL
