Which HDTV is better for gaming, Plasma or LED LCD? (Best Picture)?

Samsung 55" 8 series LED LCD TV is by far the best picture I have witnessed myself. However, I keep reading reviews that plasmas offer better pictures for movies. Can someone that has actually personally seen these TV’s tell me which one has the better overall picture quality?

It’s all about numbers!

LED LCD’s and Plasma’s have the highest contrast ratios resulting in the blackest blacks, whitest whites and the most vivid and rich looking colors! But that’s were their similarities end!

Plasma’s also have the fastest pixel response times(.001ms) as well as the fastest refresh rates(600hz), making them perfect for fast motion content like sports, movies and gaming! LED LCD’s are still limited by LCD’s inherent technology flaw…slower response times(2ms) and refresh rates(240hz)! This doesn’t mean they’re terrible at fast motion content, it just means Plasma’s are better at reproducing it then LED LCD’s! Plasma’s have smoother picture motion!

Another difference between the two is energy consumption. LED LCD’s use about 40% less energy then Standard LCD’s and Plasma’s! Which is good if you’re into the whole eco-friendly thing! Keep in mind however, LED LCD’s are also the most expensive HDTV on the market right now! So you have to ask yourself, Is it worth saving $25/year for a TV that costs $3,000 more? You’d need to have the TV for 10 years for it to pay for itself!

When it comes to gaming…dollar for dollar…Plasma is best! It’s facts, not opinion here!!! See this: http://www.plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/

Sharp LC46LE820X vs Sharp LC46LE700X LED (in Australia)?

The 820X retails $300 more and for that you get "Quattron" – four primary color technology.

Is it worth paying the extra?

Is there any reason for not buying Sharp?

I was thinking Sony Bravia but Sharp gets better reviews for picture quality.

Is there more risk because Sharp is the only one to have a fully backlit LED TV and therefore very new technology?

only reason not to buy Sharp TV is " name " not great than Sony and Samsung . you friends may said Sony better !
Sharp is the very first Japan electronics manufactures invest to LCD display technology since 1960 from small LCD display for calculator.. Sharp master LCD display technology more than other as Sharp is Japan biggest LCD /LED display panel manufactures. all Sharp TV use own made display panel .
Sony big screen LCD TV ( 46 inc and above ) and all LED TV use Sharp Japan made display panel. some new models after July 2010 may use Sharp-Sony joint Venture display panel.

http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/HONSHI/20080327/149601/
if you know Sony big screen LCD and all LED TV use Sharp display panel. you will believe Sharp quality and why Sony cannot be better that Sharp !
" quattron " is really NICE in colour display.* i view the display unit * .
the only " risk " is prices , a little high as this moment.
usually any new technology need " refine " after 6 – 12 months.
of course , if you budget allow and looking for the best as this moment, enjoy it ! 300 more is worth for it , in return for better quality . keep in mind, if you side by side compare " quattron " with other LED TV, you eye select " QUATTRON ‘. because you eye able to get the difference .

Can you recommend me a very cost-effective TV?

I’m looking for the best possible 42"+ TV with no more than $1,000. Input lag needs to be as low as possible.
Here’s what I’m looking at:
LG 42LD550 – only 120,000 contrast ratio but 5/5 reviews on BB: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+42%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9791059.p?id=1218175544360&skuId=9791059

I’m chosing LG over Samsung due to IPS panel – even though Samsung has "game mode", this TV only has a 2.6ms response time.
I’m also choosing LCD over plasma due to higher brightness and crisper images – even though plasma may be slightly faster in response rate. Even if black levels are lower I want no motion blur and the highest possible crispness due to gaming – that’s why I have a Dell Ultrasharp 24" monitor with an P-MVA panel – nothing comes remotely close to image quality in the land of typical monitors.

The LG LE5400 is the LED option, however some people have reported input lag via: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039JBXSM My question is, is it really noticeable difference between 4million and 120k contrast ratio that is apparent from LED to LCD?

Sony or Sharp LED.

LCD, LED or Plasma for gaming?

We’re getting a new tv soon (it’s going into the room with the PS3), and it’s going to be 40-42". For gaming, should we get a Plasma, LED or LCD? LCD seem the cheapest for the best reviews, and I can’t find any decent plasmas on amazon that aren’t over 500 quid. LED seems too expensive.

I suppose my real question is: Is a 50 Hz 40 inch LCD which has a cheap price but GREAT reviews worth getting for gaming?

Thanks

if you use LED you will have the best gaming experience, but it is not worth it, bc now is coming out O-LED, that is flexible LED, so the LED price will drop ;D
so i would get a 1080i projector, bc it is a 1080, you can take it anywhere and it can project up to 300"
its a better deal i think…
if you cant afford it, get a 100 hz LCD bc now PS3 has 3D
ps: if you have a 100hz tv, you can use nVidia’s 3D kit on your pc too

Can you help recommend a good Samsung tv?

I looking to buy a new Samsung tv within the next week. I’ve tried to research a whole bunch of information on the net and cannot decide on which tv to purchase. I am basically torn on their LCD’s or the brand new LED’s.

The reviews seems a little mixed, especially on the new LED’s model #’s: UN46B6000 or UN46B7000. Most people think they’re too expensive and don’t quite live up to the hype. The tv is incredibly thin, which I, honestly, could not care less about. I want a great picture for the price.

Then there is the LCD model #: LN46B750. The contrast ratio is not as high compared to the newer LED’s (3,000,000:1 VS 150,000:1) but it seems like a real nice one for the price and the high 240hz is a good feature. The difference in price I’ve seen on eBay can be nearly $500.

I have a PS3 and use the Blu-ray quite often. I will occasionally play a video game as well.

I’d really appreciate anyone’s opinion since whichever tv I get is probably the one I’ll have for a very long time. Thanks so much!

I look at TVs all day sometimes. I do think that the LED will provide you with a better picture than a standard-LCD.

however, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I suggest going to Best Buy, we carry both models and the bigger your local store the better the chance we’d have both in stock and on display. You could view them both on display and judge for yourself if the extra money is worth it.

D = Sub to VGA cable question?

I need a cable to hook my PC up to my TV Samsung says its a D + Sub cable .NOT 15 PIN VGA.It looks like a usb input in size and shape but is not.I found a picture online on what cables are needed heres what it looks like .(the first cable to the left)
http://www.televisioninfo.com/content/Samsung-UN40C7000-UN46C7000-UN55C7000-3D-LED-LCD-HDTV-Review-1620/Connectivity.htm
I know VGA is one side …….its the other side i need the name for .
i went thru the box the tv came in and found it . thanks……….it doesnt look like something that can be replaced very easily.

"At least the adapters are included, but it must be difficult to replace these if they get lost or broken.

These are all proprietary adapters, you need to call Samsung support/service and order one. (They should come with the TV).
