is this led tv worth buying?

I can get a sony lcd tv for £1000 but i can also get the exact same which is led backlit for £200 more

Is the led one worth the extra money?

Chee

there has been a lot of hype and confusion surrounding the introduction of "LED" Televisions. Even many marketing representatives and sales professionals that should know better are falsely explaining what an LED Television is to their prospective customers.
LED TVs are still LCD TVs. It is just that these new sets use LED backlights rather than the fluorescent-type backlights used in most other LCD TVs.
but all this is secondary. what we as buyers care about is the performance. rite? let me tell u that LED tv is really worth those £200(or more). if u r a soccer fan, or any any other sport freak U GOT IT! it is amazing to watch those matches on LED screens SERIOUSLY. besides this all other things like REALITY shows, movies n what not? LED screens ofcourse have something in them that makes them different from other tvs.
so i would suggest that dont give it a second thought. if u are spending ur money, why not spend a little more n buy the BEST?

Will A Proscan LED TV Last Long?

I just bought a 42′ LED-LCD Proscan TV. Of course i bought it for the price. I checked the reviews about this product and there was nothing but good things to say about. People who had the TV said they loved it and not one person rated it low. SO I BOUGHT IT. After buying it, i did some more research on just the Proscan Company itself and people kept saying they are cheaply made and stuff. All I want to know is roughly about how many years or so do you think TV will last me?

There’s no way to predict how long any one set will last. Any TV can fail at any time for any number of reasons, regardless of the brand name or what you paid for it. This forum is full of questions from those with Samsung, Sony, etc. sets that went belly-up a few days after the warranty expired. Conversely, any bargain-basement set has a good chance of performing well for a great many years.

You might find that this or that brand tends to last longer across a broad scope of samples (thousands of customers), but again, that has little relevance to any single specific set. You won’t know until it actually fails.

My big-screen Zenith CRT TV expired in 2007 less than 7 years after I bought it. On the other hand, two TVs from the 1980s (also Zeniths) are still going strong. You just can’t tell until it happens.

Episode 1: Life, Darwin & Everything
In the first episode Richard Dawkins explains the basic mechanisms of natural selection, and tells the story of how Charles Darwin developed his theory. He teaches a year 11 science class about evolution, which many of the students are reluctant to accept. He then takes them to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset to search for fossils, hoping that the students can see some of the evidence for themselves. Dawkins visits Nairobi, where he interviews a prostitute who seems to have a genetic immunity to HIV, and talks to microbiologist Larry Gelmon. He goes on to predict that genetic immunity is a trait that will become more prevalent in the community over time.

Episode 2: The Fifth Ape
In the second episode Richard Dawkins deals with some of the philosophical and social ramifications of the theory of evolution. Dawkins starts out in Kenya, speaking with palaeontologist Richard Leakey. He then visits Christ is the Answer Ministries in Nairobi, Kenya’s largest Pentecostal church, to interview Bishop Bonifes Adoyo. Dawkins mentions that his own birthplace was a few doors from the church were the interview takes place. Adoyo has led the movement to press National Museums of Kenya to sideline its collection of hominid bones pointing to man’s evolution from ape to human. The collection includes the Turkana Boy discovered by Kamoya Kimeu, a member of a team led by Richard Leakey in 1984. Dawkins discusses social Darwinism and eugenics, explaining how these are not versions of natural selection, and that “Darwin has been wrongly tainted”. He then meets with evolutionary psychologist Steven Pinker to discuss how morals can be compatible with natural selection. He goes on to explaining sexual selection, with peafowls as an example. To find out whether sexual selection plays a role for altruism and kindness among humans, he visits women who are looking for sperm donors, as well as sperm bank manager (and later CEO) Claus Rodgaard of Cryos International in New York City. Dawkins also explains kin selection and selfish genes.

Episode 3: God Strikes Back
In the third and final episode, Dawkins explains why Darwin’s theory is one of history’s most controversial ideas.
