Which is a better LCD TV, samsung or panasonic?

I had purchased a 32" Samsung Bordeaux LCD panel two years ago and am still stunned with the picture clarity it offers.
Of lately there has been a huge influx of LCD and a few LED panels in the market.
The more choices you have, the more confused you become :(
My samsung bordeaux had 8000:1 contrast ratio and it feels awesome.
Now when i see other panels, they have 20000:1 , 500000:1 100000:1 contrast ratios??!!!
But surprisingly i see that my bordeaux is much crisper than the 50000:1 sony bravia panel ?!!
anyways, now i’m looking ahead for purchasing a 40" LCD/LED panel

Panasonic LCD is damn cheap, it comes with 20000:1 contrast ratio. I havent checked its picture quality though.
Samsung is my all time favourite but the price is still way too high for its LCD and more recently launched LED panel :(
I wanna go ahead with panasonic vierra. Is it worth the buy? Or shud i wait a few more months so that i have enough balance for cash purchase of samsung?

I would recommend that Panasonic.

I field a lot of questions on the website that deal with HDTV failures as well as a little repair work on the side and Panasonic is by far the most reliable brand that i’ve ever seen! Even more reliable then Samsung and Sony!

Panasonic’s also have the best pic qualities too!

Nothing wrong with Samsung’s, if that’s your favorite then go for it! I’m just telling you what i know from personal experience. Panasonic’s have always been my favorite! Affordable, reliable and outstanding image quality!

Hope this helps!

Best HDTV for 2009-10?

I’m looking to invest in an HDTV. I’m a serious gamer (PS3) and I love
Blu-Ray. My current tv is a Toshiba Regza, which I think is only a 720p.
I want to upgrade to a LED 1080p type. So I would like to know, which is the best HDTV I can get my hands on right now that can be over 60" (ie no OLED) and what is the best tv I can get that is the best display with 3D capability.

If you want the best HD tv in the market you’ll have to buy the Pioneer Elite Kuro 60". It is priced higher than any tv in the market, around $7.000. I purchased a Pioneer 4330 back in 2002, a 43" plasma tv and is still running strong without any trouble. I purchased it at a discoount price of $6,400. Go online to Home Theater magazine and read the review on the Elite Kuro along with other tv brands. Hope this will help you.

which of these 2 tvs is better for home theater and do you know of any better then these?

Samsung LED TV UN55B7000?

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Samsung LED UNB6000 and UNB7000 Televisions work in Australia?

I’ve read that it contains an NTSC and ATSC Tuner, but in Australia we are currently using PAL and moving into DVB-T in 2012.

So would these models be capable for watching in Australia?

NO….it won’t work in Australia, and wait until they iron out the BUGS before buying one.

That should be about 2 years from now…

I feel sorry for the people that buy the newest technology and don’t wait.
Constant repairs, OLD technology…..and everybody else buying it at HALF the cost.

I sure wouldn’t feel like I’m KING of the Electronic Universe at that time.
More like the Joker….and all the peasants are pointing and laughing at me..

Especially the TV TECH….

Does ANYONE have solid info on future blu-ray pricing?

I just bought a 42" 1080P LCD television for my bedroom and want a 1080P source to take advantage of the TV’s capabilities. Now with HD-DVD officially dead this means my source will be of the blu-ray sort. My problem is that Sony’s entry level player (BDP S-300) is now back at the retarded retail price of $399.99. A 40G PS3 retails for $399.99. So why pay the same price for a standalone player? It doesn’t make sense to the consumer. Plus if you check the reviews on the BDP S-300 they are far from great. Apparently this player requires CONSTANT firmware updates which means it must be connected to the internet or updated via DVD burn from a PC. This leads me to believe that the drive in this player is very similar if not the same as the PS3’s. Has ANYONE seen or heard of a futre price drop regarding blu-ray players? I don’t care if it’s 3 months away I just want to know!

I disagree with the being "forced" to repurchase. All movies will work on all players, but not all special features will work on all players. So even if you buy a newer player, you can put the old one upstairs on a second tv or whatever.

As far as the PS3 versus standalone pricing goes, that’s because the PS3 is subsidized. Game consoles always cost more to make than they sell for, as the company gets back money in licensing fees.

The drive in the standalone player is probably the same (I mean, it’s Sony, so you’d think they’d just buy a ton of the same parts), but the fact that you need the internet or burned DVDs to upgrade the firmware does not make it the same. The internal components are completely different. That BDP S-300 does not have the Cell processor inside, which is the source of the PS3’s crazy decoding ability. The PS3 simply has the flexibility to upgrade with every spec increase, because it has the hardware under the hood to. They had to add a 2nd picture decoder for PiP. Done, since the bluray decoder in the PS3 only took up 3 SPEs. It was fairly easy to tack on another decoder in the other 3 SPEs. It has enough memory for downloads (BDLive).

As far as future price drops go, I’d hedge my bets on the PS3 dropping sometime in Oct or Nov, perhaps earlier if the 360 drops in price (I was going to say E3, but they just upped the value of the 80GB bundle by adding in a $50 Dualshock3 instead of the SixAxis). The PS3 is the bluray leader, and Sony is pushing it in order to get Bluray and the PS brand into every living room. The standalone players are designed to make a profit, and won’t drop in price until costs have come down [which, incidentally, could be soon since the laser was just decreased in size].

The only downside of the PS3 is that it doesn’t support DTSMA and one other lossless codec (DTS HD?). So if you really want those codecs, you’ll have to get a standalone player, or wait until the PS3 gets a firmware update to allow those (I’m sure it will, it’s just on the bottom of the list).

what is the difference between LED&LCD tv’s?

LED is a light. it is now being used in rear projection tvs instead of the high intesity lamp that has been used for years. this is relativly new to the consumer although has been in the works for some time, these leds last a whole lot longer than the lamps and dont heat up and use less electricity to run. flat panel lcds use a florecent back light to light the screen. soon you will see them switching to the leds as back lights this will make the panel last longer and will give the lcds a better contrast ratio. but simply the LED is a light that is being used in tvs instead of traditional lamps to extend lamp life and use less energy. lcd is a type of tv. in the near future leds will be used in lcds. hoped i helped.

Do you think the McCanns are control freaks?

When my daughter was 4yo she was a wild little thing always getting into mischief and sometimes being a real pain in the rear. Thankfully she grew out of it quickly. Some kids can be a handful to deal with and hyperactive at that young age and can be hard to control. Because the McC’s come from a medical background where in effect everything is tightly controlled by procedures etc. do you think this "need for control" was carried over into their family life.

Some examples:

From all the TV appearences I have seen of the McC’s, Gerry always seem to want to be in control from t he very start, he leads Kate by the hand as they walk down the street Is he worried that Kate might say something out of turn and screw up the story?

Likewise with the police evidence, every time new evidence pops up he wants to know exactly what is it. Is this so he can make up valid or plausible answers to fit the evidence?
The aledged dopeing of the children would give them total control over the childrens sleeping patterns.

Yes I do think they are control freaks, they have certainly controlled the last few month with such an air about them that you would never have guessed they were the parents of a missing child in a million year! They seem to have always been one step ahead and in declaring their innocence have flawlessly given a performance for the Oscars! The only thing they didn’t need to control was their emotion for their lost child because they have none. I hope justice is served and they go down big style but I guess they will get away with it and live of the sympathy of good people for the rest of their lives, knowing a body will never be found…….. Just my opinion but I despise them…

Rift Valley Mps Attack The P.M

The apparent fallout between Prime Minister Raila Odinga and a section of Rift Valley leaders led by agriculture minister William Ruto deepened this weekend with the Kalenjin leaders launching yet another bare-knuckle attack on the Prime Minister. Responding to earlier remarks by the prime minister that some leaders from rift valley were inciting their people over the mau yet they were in cabinet when such decisions were made, Ruto and his colleagues accused Raila of seeking cheap international acclaim at the expense of the rights of local people. They further accused Raila of adopting dictatorial tactics to intimidate and gag them from raising issues affecting their people. They made it clear that their support for the Prime Minister was no longer guaranteed.
